Eligibility for Aid and Attendance as well as comparable programs are based on service time, clinical and financial considerations.
The must haves...
- 90 days of active duty service.
- Service for one day during a period of war. (Active combat not required)
- No dishonorable discharges
- Be over the age of 65
- Permanently and fully disabled (100% rating)
- Require assistance with some daily living activities
- Total income is less than your Maximum Annual Pension Rate (MAPR)
- Total assets of less than $155,356
Eligible Periods of War...
World War 2: Dec 1, 1941 to Dec 31, 1946
Korean Conflict: Jun 27, 1950 to Jan 31, 1955
Vietnam War: Nov 1, 1955 to May 7, 1975 (These dates are applicable to vets who served in the Republic of Vietnam; Aug 5, 1964 for all others)
Gulf War: Aug 2, 1990 to Undetermined
